The Breathing Room - Health and Participation Guidelines
The Breathing Room is a free weekly online breathwork session open to anyone who wishes to attend. Before joining, please read the following carefully.
Conscious connected breathwork can produce powerful physical and emotional responses including tingling or numbness in the hands, feet or face, light-headedness, emotional release and temporary changes in body temperature. These responses are normal and generally pass quickly. They are not harmful for most people.
However, conscious connected breathwork through the mouth is not suitable for everyone. If you are currently experiencing or have a history of any of the following, you are welcome to attend and are encouraged to breathe through your nose throughout the session rather than using the conscious connected mouth breathing.
Epilepsy or seizure disorders
Cardiovascular disease, including heart conditions or high blood pressure
A history of aneurysm
Severe psychiatric conditions including schizophrenia or psychosis
Detached retina or glaucoma
Recent surgery or physical injury
Pregnancy
Severe asthma or other respiratory conditions that are not well managed
If you are unsure whether breathwork is appropriate for you, please consult your GP or medical practitioner before attending. By attending any session of The Breathing Room, you confirm that you have read and understood these guidelines, that none of the above contraindications apply to you, or that you have sought appropriate medical advice, and that you take full responsibility for your own participation and wellbeing during the session.
If at any point during a session you feel unwell, please stop using the conscious, connected breath immediately, return to your natural breath, and if necessary seek medical assistance.
